Well I took a little break from working that much on Bzoink, but hopefully I can get back at it this week. Part of my problem is that it's been snowing a lot lately and my parking spot at the office puts my car under gigantic icicles and is snow covered. Har har.

It's just December. I get disorganized because I have a bunch of things I feel like I should be doing like shopping for Christmas presents and stuff like that.

I'm currently struggling with a Google problem. The Google ads on Bzoink will randomly freeze pages of the site and I don't know why and I can't find a solution to the problem. I removed Google from most of Bzoink a few days ago, but added it back probably 30 minutes ago. I think this is going to lead up to a revamp of the entire ad situation on Bzoink though.

Christmas is coming.. I need to start working on the Christmas theme for Bzoink too.. And I need to work on the scavenger hunt that is coming up, I think. Apparently those are going to be an annual thing, so I need to come up with a better system. The way the Halloween Scavenger Hunt was setup is a major pain in my butt and very confusing on my end.

weee.

Cosmic Bowling last night. The black lights and whatnot. It was also officially the latest I've ever gone bowling. Didn't even get to the alley until 11:30.. Stayed until they closed at 2am. My best game last night was a 123.. Which I think is somewhere around my all-time best also.

Anyway, it was fun. Went to a friend's until 3:30, then came home.. Yayy.

Thanksgiving was good. Played with my niece and nephew more than I usually do as of the last year or two. Threw some snowballs and whatnot. I guess I feel like I'm getting myself back again and enjoying being around my family instead of being preoccupied with other things.

I think part of it is I just feel like I have a little more energy lately. Not much, but a little bit, and it's noticeable to me. I attribute this to my exercising that I've kind of been keeping on the down-low. Tomorrow is week 3, day 3 of the program I'm doing. I'm worried I'm going to give it up soon because it's feeling more like a chore again, and the runs are getting longer and I can't keep my mind occupied long enough so I just end up thinking about how slow time is going. Anyway, it's a 9 week program and I'm really intending to complete it all, and in only 9 weeks.. And then keep going after the 9 weeks... Eventually getting to running for an hour 3 times a week. Meh.

I got pretty much ALL survey related pages converted to the wide layout today, as well as updated all of the listings to show the star rating. Also discovered a huge bug in the whole tag system.. The kind that's like 'wow, this wasn't working at all.. How did I not notice and how did nobody tell me?'

Oh well. The tag system still needs to be redone to be better.. But tonight's fix was a very big improvement. I'm happy. I think I'm going to go home soon.

Launched the widened survey pages tonight. Kind of lame how I'm just doing a couple pages and sections at a time so there's wide pages and skinny pages, but oh well. That's the way I decided to roll on this.

With the wide survey layout the new star rating system I've been working on is finally released. The ratings will be showing up in survey listings pretty much everywhere on the site pretty soon. Right now since there are very few (only 13 currently) ratings on surveys, I'm not releasing the new lists with the star ratings.. Everything will just show up at 0 stars anyway.

I finally got the Bzoink Office Cam working last night. I've been wanting to for the longest time but I was having trouble getting a computer to run it on.

I also got the Christmas lights rigged up so you, yes you, can turn them on and off from your web browser.

It's fun, but I'm not on the cam.. I'm still at home right now, I should be there a little bit later.

YESSS! I've got the feature I've been working on DONE. As far as I know, at least. Haha.

But now there's other design/layout changes that I need to make happen before I can release this new feature. Should be smooth and quick sailing now though.

Haha, I'm way too happy about the very small piece of code I've been working on. I actually didn't write the majority of it, I'm using some free code from the internet, but I've had to change quite a bit of it.

I've only got one minor issue to work on now, and I think I'm going to be finished, and it's going to be working 100% how I want it. Apparently I'm picky or something. It feels like the way I changed things make a lot more sense, but maybe not. I'm really happy though, it's pretty, and fun.

It's a tad bit discouraging to realize how much time and effort I've spent on this, and how small of a feature it really is. haha. Oh well. Small things, big impacts.. Or something.

Well, the new charger for my laptop should come tomorrow. I'm bored and trying to do something worthwhile and productive, so I'm at the office on my old desktop trying to get some work done.

Returned to the project I mentioned two entries ago. It's slow going. I'm really happy with where I've managed to finally get it. But still some things to add in.

Today has been a day of very frustrating coding. I was really hoping I could get this one feature hammered out tonight, but no go.

Actually, as I was typing that sentence I think I figured out why it wasn't working. Oh well, I added it in, but I'll test it tomorrow hopefully.

That feature is getting close, but it kind of relies on a bunch of other changes so it'll be a while until it comes out I think. Once I get the basic functions of it working I need to clean it up, but very close.

Anyway, I'm going to bed.

EDIT @ 3:24am
Well, I couldn't give up on it quite yet. I got it working. Lots of clean up to do before it's working exactly how I want it to visually, but it's doing the database stuff correctly. Yay.

Halloween has now come and gone. Bzoink has made the transition over to Election mode.

Don't worry if you think you haven't been picked as a winner for the Halloween Scavenger Hunt. The main page says the winners have already been picked, but I'm actually not going to be picking them until tomorrow morning. Why? I don't know.

Now go vote for your favorite candidate on the main page of Bzoink!

The power went out today just as I was seconds away from jumping into the shower.. So I've just been sitting around for 4 or 5 hours. I don't like going anywhere or doing anything if I haven't taken a shower that day.

If the power stayed off until 6pm I was planning on heading into the office to work and sleep there tonight, but it's back. Too bad there's no shower at the office though, for real. :)
