I am always struggling to know what to watch and whether the movie is any good! I feel this could be a good thread for people to recommend Movies or Television shows to others!

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD [TV Series]

Yes, I realize AOS used to be totally 'blah'... but like, now it's so dark it makes me cry and hide behind the couch, peeking through my fingers and cringing. It's the best.

---

Lost River [Movie]

Yes, this is the 'failed' Ryan Gosling-directed movie. The thing is, the only reason why it failed was because taking it to Sundance Film Festival was a BAD move. Sundance is known for only showing fluffy films. They show films that literally dance around issues, so no wonder it was turned off halfway through. This film has super sharp edges.

^^If you enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody, as a follow-up, I highly recommend the documentary Queen: Rock the World. It was filmed during the recording of their News of the World album (and that tour) in 1977 but the footage was never used, until 2017, when they put together a documentary using it. You can find it very easily on youtube, it's only about an hour long, but has lots of very interesting candid footage of the group in '77 and some fun interviews.

Film: Torch Song Trilogy - based on the play of the same name, and telling the story of a gay Jewish man in NYC in the late seventies and early eighties and his fight for love and acceptance.

TV Series: Life on Mars (the original, British version) - DCI Sam Tyler is hit by a speeding car in 2006 while in pursuit of a criminal. He wakes up in the year 1973. Won't spoil the rest. Also recommend its follow-up series, Ashes to Ashes.
