There seems to be a decline on the movie front this Christmas. What with the new James Blonde movie, Borat, ANOTHER crappy Pixar animal movie and Jude Law starring in a Christmas romantic comedy.

Wow, what a lineup.

Well; I ended up going to see the only movie that didn't look like crap, the aptly titled "Prestige".

I must say, it rocked a lot of ass. Starring Hugh Jackman, and Christian Bale as two ambitious magicians in an 1800's setting trying to become successful, famous and all that. I'll try not to spoil it; but Jackman's wife accidently dies during a trick, presumably by Bale and they hate eachother for a while. Then Jackman tries to steal a trick from him with help from his new girlfriend and ends up blah blah blah.

Pros:

+ Hugh Jackman
+ Nikola Tesla finally getting some recognition
+ Nice, dark setting.
+ Lots of plot twists and fun.
+ VERY nice ending.
+ Slash capabilities
+ TESLA COILS!! F-- TESLA COILS!

Cons:

- Women were annoying. Though they are in every movie.
- Cinematography too much like Batman Begins
- Christian Bale was the most unlikable guy ever; I assume he was meant to be like that.
- Bit dragged out.
- Not enough magic.

Now this movie made me think; why the hell isn't there a movie about Nikola Tesla? Hell, even a documentary that recieves regular airtime. He deserves so much more recognition than he actually recieves.

But in conclusion; yeah good movie. Wouldn't see it again though.

oh god why did such a beautiful man like Jude Law get sucked into these terrible movies.

I wanted to see that, but my dad refused to take me. "It looks stupid."

You know what we saw instead?

"Happy Feet".

One of these days, I'm going to tell him that, just to see his clueless "who?" look.

He could totally pass for House. He's even got the limp. But he won't get a cane.

I thought The Prestige was very good, and I have to agree about Tesla. I rejoiced in seeing Andy Serkis in it. I totally want a hundred top hats now. I think I'm going to watch it again to make sure I get everything. I totally didn't notice the freakiness of the prestige part of it (how can I say this without spoiling it?). Let's just say I didn't look at the tanks. But yes, I was with Hugh all the way in that one, and it somewhat disappointed me that he didn't win.
By the way, Senki, in the end, do you think the bird is okay?

I should see it too. Except I probably won't until it's out on DVD and Sheri buys it or something.
